Passage Four
　　Questions 26 to 30 are based on the following passage.
　　It came as something of a surprise when Diana, Princess of Wales, made a trip to Angola in 1997, to support the Red Cross’s campaign for a total ban on all anti-personnel landmines. Within hours of arriving in Angola, television screens around the World were filled with images of her comforting victims injured in explosions caused by landmines. “I knew the statistics,” she said. “But putting a face to those figures brought the reality home to me; like When I met Sandra, a 13-year-old girl who had lost her leg, and people like her.”
　　The Princess concluded, with a simple message: “We must stop landmines”. And she used every opportunity during her visit to repeat this message.
　　But, back in London, her views were not shared by some members of the British government, which refused to support a ban on these weapons. Angry politicians launched an, attack on the Princess in the press. They described her as “very ill-informed” and a “loose cannon (亂放炮的人).”
　　The Princess responded by brushing aside the criticisms: “This is a distraction (干擾) we do not need. All I’m trying to do is help.”
　　Opposition parties, the media and the Public immediately voiced their support for the Princess. To make matters worse for the government, it soon emerged that the Princess’s trip had been approved by the Foreign Office, and that she was in fact very well-informed about both the situation in Angola and the British government’s policy regarding landmines. The result was a severe embarrassment for the government.
　　To try and limit the damage, the Foreign Secretary, Malcolm Rifkind, claimed that the Princess’s views on landmines were not very different from government policy, and that it was “working towards” a worldwide ban. The Defense Secretary, Michael Portillo, claimed the matter was “a misinterpretation or misunderstanding.”
　　For the Princess, the trip to this war-torn country was an excellent opportunity to use her popularity to show the world how much destruction and suffering landmines can cause. She said that the experience had also given her the Chance to get closer to people and their problems.

　　值得的注意的是but這個詞。But表示轉折，前文說她已經知道了相關的數據，然后話鋒一轉，說面對面的接觸將現實帶到了眼前，說明數據只能是虛的，親眼見到受害者后才真正認識到了現實的情形。四個題支中D的意思與此為接近。

　　題目問一些英國政府成員批評戴安娜王妃是因為什么。

　　第28題考查的即是政府官員對戴安娜王妃的批評之聲，根據上面的分析可知，文章寫到批評本身是在三段。那么戴妃對批評的反應很有可能是在第四段。查看文章可知，作者確實在第四段敘述了戴妃的反應：The Princess responded by brushing aside the criticisms: “This is a distraction we do not need. All I’m trying to do is help.” Brush aside是一個詞組，本意是掃除，引申為“漠視”，即便不知道確切的引申義，也是可以從brush（清掃）和aside（到旁邊）的本意大體推斷出這個詞組含有否定意味。這樣由前半句可知戴妃對批評是采取漠視態度的。而后是戴妃的原話，意為“我們并不需要為此分心。我所要做的就是幫助人們。”到此可以判斷戴妃對批評的態度是毫不在意的，A的說法正確。
　　A，她對批評毫不在意。
　　B，她更多地出現在電視上。文章只是在開頭提到了電視，可以確認與本題無關。
　　C，她按照計劃與那個13歲的女孩見了面。與B的錯誤一樣。
　　D，她與對手們據理力爭。如果不知道戴妃話中distraction（分心）的含義，或許會存在一些疑難。不過即便除去這一句，從前后兩句應該也足以判斷出戴妃的態度了：她無意與官員們說理。

　　題目已經到了后一道，可以判斷考查對象不是全篇（如問文章的主要論題是什么）就是后一段。這道題問戴安娜王妃對自己安哥拉之行的看法，根據前面對全文的分析知道，后一段講的是安哥拉之行對于王妃的意義，與題目所說類似，可以判斷答案就在后一段。

　　C，它極大地提高了她的受歡迎程度。這句話是在考查對王妃個想法的理解。句子是個長句，有一定理解難度，出題者便抓出popularity一詞，杜撰了一個C的說法。其實句子本意是王妃的popularity早已是事實，她只是用自己的popularity來更有效果地反對使用地雷。
　　D，它影響了她與英國政府的關系。這個說法與A的錯誤一樣。
